Philip Seymour Hoffman's estranged girlfriend Mimi O'Donnell told NYPD that the late actor was high the day before his fatal drug overdose.

O'Donnell saw Hoffman at 2 p.m. on Saturday near his West Village apartment, during which the Catching Fire actor appeared to be under the influence of drugs. She also told the police that she met up with him again at 8 p.m., when he reportedly "sounded high," according to DailyMail.

Hoffman's autopsy will be performed Monday to determine the official cause of death, though his drug overdose is the most likely suspected cause. The 46-year-old actor allegedly had 49 containers of heroin and close to two dozen used syringes in his New York apartment, as discovered by authorities.

The authorities discovered eight empty bags labeled with "Ace of Spades" and "Ace of Hearts" in his apartment. The bags generally contain heroin laced with fentanyl, a type of opiate that is often fatal.

Hoffman leaves behind O'Donnell and their three children: Cooper, who was born in 2003, Tallulah in 2006, and Willa in 2008. The three were reportedly left waiting for Hoffman to pick them up before he was discovered dead.
