"It's thanks to all the female ski jumpers who built up our sport in the past that I am able to find myself in such a happy position today."

If she were to achieve the highest score, the 17-year-old Japanese skier would be the youngest athlete - male or female - to ever win the normal hill individual event. Her home country would also become the first to win all four of the ski jumping events.
With all the pressure, Takanashi vows that she's determined to win the gold on Tuesday.
"I'm very grateful that so many people have such high expectations of me," she said. "And I'm working really hard now to ensure that I could live up to them."
She also added that her honor would be shared with everyone who helped her get to this point.
The first ever women's ski jump will take place at 12:30 p.m. EST on Tuesday. It's followed by the final round at 1:25 p.m.
