As the racy promos for The Americans season 2 have suggested, their will be a lot more sexual energy between Elizabeth and Philip than there was in season 1.

"They're ready to be married," The Americans executive producer Joel Fields told TV Guide recently. "What they're going to discover is having been fake-married for a long time, real marriage is not an easy thing. When you have two kids, there's family to contend with. Add to that their work is life-and-death and the future of mankind hangs in the balance, there's a little bit of pressure for them."

This passion for each other may change slightly after Elizabeth botches a seemingly routine mission in the season 2 premiere. New synopses for episode 2 and 3 were released recently, each of them suggesting that Elizabeth may need her rest.

In episode 2, titled Cardinal, Philip looks into the fallout from Elizabeth's failed operation while she stays at home. However, her instincts kick in after receiving a mysterious distress signal.

In the next episode, titled The Walk-In, Philip and Elizabeth will be completing a new mission. Unfortunately, there are complications that arise yet again, causing Philip to question Elizabeth's abilities.

While this is occurring, their curious daughter Paige (Holly Taylor) is snooping around for the truth about Elizabeth and Philip.

The Americans season 2 premieres Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 10 p.m. on FX.
