'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' Lawsuit: Rob Kardashian's Widow Ellen Pearson Hits Show with Defamation Claims [VIDEO]
While Keeping Up With the Kardashians is well into its ninth season, the show has been hit with a lawsuit for statements made during season 8.
Kris Jenner Still Had Relationship With Ex-Husband
According to a recent article in The Hollywood Reporter, Super Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff is allowing the Kardashian siblings' ex-stepmom, Ellen Pearson Kardashian, to file a defamation lawsuit over four statements made on the show last season (see court document here):
During an episode in question, Khloe Kardashian said Pearson "married [my father] on his deathbed."
Kris Jenner added, "[She] propped [my ex-husband] up on a pillow, basically in his own bed and married him in his pajamas."
Kourtney Kardashian also chimed in and said, "Mom, he wasn't on the bed, he was on the couch."
Jenner corrected herself and added, "Well, propped him up on the couch and married him."
Even though the judge allowed Pearson to file a lawsuit for the statements, he threw out claims of intentional infliction of emotional distress, disclosure of private facts and conspiracy to defame. The judge also removed Robert Kardashian Jr. as a defendant.
It is now up to to Judge Beckloff to decide whether the statements were within their First Amendment rights along with an issue of the public interest.
Beckloff said, "There is widespread interest in Kourtney, Khloe and Kimberly Kardashians as well as Kris Jenner. They are celebrities."
Jenner, along with the Kardashian children are currently suing Pearson for $500,000 for leaking Rob Kardashian, Sr's personal diary to the media in 2013. The journal included family pictures and writings.
New episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians airs Sunday nights on E! at 9/8c.
