The upbeat song, which shot to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, is nominated for best original song at Sunday's awards.

"It's really awesome and I'm still shocked," he told The New York Daily News of his nomination.

The successful song appears on his second solo album G I R L, which hits stores on Monday.

"The reason why I named it G I R L in capital letters because when you look at it looks a little weird, and the reason why it does is because society is unbalanced; and I just thought if I'm going to make to make an album, I need to make an album that says everything that I wanted to say and dreamt of," Williams recently told Zane Lowe.

"And women have been so good to me, they've done so much for my family and everything that I've ever gotten was because of a woman. They are like my bosses."
