Dancing With the Stars is switching things up for season 18 with a new twist, but not every pro dancer is in favor of it.

The new twist for season 18 involves the celebrities having to switch their pro partner for another pro at some point in the season, a twist that's already causing controversy.

"I don't know how it's going to be," pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy, told Today. "They've tried explaining it to us four times. There was a lot of confusion. It'll be a little awkward if I get paired up with someone who loves me, but (my partner) Meryl (Davis, Olympic ice skating champion) wants to stay with me, too."

Tony Dovolani, who is paired with reality star NeNe Leakes for season 18, said that he normally doesn't mind change, but this twist is different.

"Changing partners is raising my eyebrows," he told Today. "I don't like sharing my women! I grow them into the partners that I want them to be, and ... halfway through the season there will be a switcheroo? You can feel cheated."

One pro who is very much in favor of the twist is Derek Hough, who said that he suggested it to DWTS producers a few years ago.

"It'll be either a train wreck, or it'll be fantastic," Hough admitted. "Some (pros) will complain, perhaps, 'Well, if I had this partner, I could do that.'"

After 17 seasons of Dancing With the Stars, this is the first time the celebs will get one-on-one training with multiple pro dancers.

Dancing With the Stars season 18 premieres Monday, March 17 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
