NCIS: Los Angeles is bringing Kensi back from Afghanistan but the agent may not return to the field right away.

Kensi's (Daniela Ruah) first case back will involve Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) teaming up with Nell (Renée Felice Smith) instead of his previously missing partner.

The intelligence analyst has been entering the field more and more, and this time she will join forces with the LAPD Detecitve to help a marine that is being tracked by al Quaeda. It appears the soldier embezzled some money while he was serving in Iraq, and al Quaeda will be looking to get it back during "Windfall."

Kensi, however, will most likely be sitting this mission out. After her time overseas, Kensi may need to take a moment to get her emotions back on track. Between her recent abduction and her upcoming run in with the White Ghost (also known as her ex-fiancée Jack), Kesni will definitely have a few issues to sort through upon her homecoming.

"We're going to certainly play with their emotional stability. One of the interesting themes for Deeks and for Kensi to deal with, at the beginning of this season, was the trauma that Deeks went through after being tortured [in the Season 4 finale], how he was going to cope with that," explained series creator Shane Brennan, according to TV Line. "What we do with Kensi when she comes back is put her through that same emotional trauma that Deeks went through. I'm not saying she gets tortured, but..."
