James & Peta Dancing To 'Let It Go' on Dancing With the Stars?

Conrad Green, who has been an executive producer on Dancing With the Stars since the very first season, has announced that he is quitting the show at the end of the current 18th season, Deadline reports Thursday. Green told the publication that he was stepping down from his post and joining Fox's ambitious new reality show Utopia as a producer.

"I'm enormously proud of everything we've achieved on Dancing with the Stars," he told Deadline. "This has been the job of a lifetime and I'm thankful for every performance, every dancer and every colleague I've worked with over the years, and to ABC and BBC Worldwide Prods. for these past eighteen seasons. What was once a small dancing show has thrived and become a cultural phenomenon. But after almost 10 years, the opportunity to take on a project with the immense potential of Utopia was simply too good to pass up. The ambition and scale of the challenge is thrilling. I'll miss everyone I've worked with on Dancing With the Stars and look forward to this next exciting chapter."

Dancing With the Stars has made headlines in season 18 for its relatively controversial decisions. Longtime co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet was fired at the start of the season and quickly replaced with Erin Andrews, a divisive move among fans. The Switch Up twist that took place in the most recent episode was also polarizing, especially for the cast.

There were also rumors and allegations that the producers rigged the Switch Up voting in addition to reports that Andrews was not liked behind-the-scenes.

Green did not explicitly say that these controversies were a factor in his decision to leave.

Dancing With the Stars season 18 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
