Last month, the first season of the hit HBO television crime drama, True Detective, came to a close and, as an anthology, so did the run for its lead actors, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. However, show creator Nic Pizzolatto is currently scripting a season 2, which is expected to debut in 2015 in a whole new way.

'True Detective' Season 2 Casting a Female Lead?

While True Detective received widespread critical acclaim for season 1, it also took a lot of flak for failing to portray women in a positive light. Reportedly, critics would like to see female characters in more important roles next season, and perhaps even an actress starring as one of the show's leads.

However, it sounds as though Pizzolatto does not want to feel like his creative juices are stifled by the outside opinion of others, so viewers can expect to see his own personal ideas again, on the next season. During an interview with Buzzfeed on March 6 he revealed, "I'm writing Season 2 right now, but I don't want to divulge any potentialities, because so much could change. I just never want to create from a place of critical placation - that's a dead zone. So I don't want, for instance, a gender-bias-critique to influence what I do."

'True Detective' Season 2: Brad Pitt Plus 'Hard Women, Bad Men' To Join Cast For 2015?

Apparently, some guarantees regarding a second season of True Detective include a new setting, new crimes, perhaps a new period in time, and of course, new detectives. "Man... I'm tempted to utter just one word, but I can't," said Pizzolatto, "I gotta stay mum on the next season till it's more concrete."
