It took four years but it finally happened, the Spice Girls reunited this morning and boy, was it a big deal!

After much concern that Victoria Beckham, who is now married to soccer star David Beckham and a successful fashion designer would not participate, Beckham joined fellow members Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Melanie Chisholm and Geri Halliwel at a press conference to promote an upcoming Spice Girls musical called "Viva Forever!"

At 8am EST time this morning the twitter account for Viva Forever, @VFMusical announced that "the girls are together on one stage" for the first time since 2008, when they reunited for a comeback tour.

As if the moment couldn't get any more nostalgic, the British crew of beauties gathered at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, the same place they shot their video for "Wannabe" in 1996 and since then has been renovated.

The show is the idea of Judy Craymer, producer of the hit Abba musical Mamma Mia!, and the script will be written by comedian Jennifer Saunders.

According to its producers, Viva Forever! is "the story of a beautiful, talented girl and her best friends who get swept up in the obsession of today's TV celebrity culture". It will explore the "bitter reality of fame" and be set against the backdrop of a TV talent show

The musical "charts her journey into the world of overnight fame and its impact on her relationships with her mother and the friends she thought she'd have forever".

The musical will be directed by Paul Garrington who has staged international productions of Mamma Mia! and Dirty Dancing.

The Spice Girls music-themed is set to open in Piccadilly Theatre in London's West End on December 11.
