Following the release of a report which claimed to establish motive and evidence connecting American Amanda Knox to the 2007 murder of her one-time roommate Meredith Kercher, Knox has come out to maintain her innocence on national television.

Amanda Knox Reconvicted Due To Meredith Kercher's Multiple Stab Wounds?

In an appearance on CNN May 1, Knox maintained that she hadn't been at the crime scene and played no role in Kercher's grisly murder.

"I did not kill my friend," she said. "I did not wield a knife, I had to reason to. In the month that we were living together, we were becoming friends. A week before the murder occurred we went out to a classical music concert together. We had never fought."

Knox also maintained that the lack of DNA evidence from both her and ex-boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito is what clears them of the charges they are acing yet again.

"There is o trace of us. If Rudy Guede committed this crime, which he did, we know that because his DNA's there, on Meredith's body, around Meredith's body, his handprints and footprints in her blood," Knox said. "None of that exists for me, and if I were there, I would have had traces of Meredith's broken body on me, and I would have left traces of myself around Meredith's corpse and I am no there, and that proves my innocence.

She also talked about how the idea of going back to prison for the crime affected her, and explained her reasons for seeking a new appeal.

"From this whole experience, especially in prison where you have to take everything day by day, right now I'm having to take everything step by step," she said. "And if I think about everything that I could possibly be facing, its way too overwhelming for me to even conceive."

"I truly believe that it is possible to win this, and to bring an end to all of the speculation, and the nonsensical theories, and really bring peace to everyone who has suffered from this experience," she said.

Knox, Sollecito and Guede were all arrested in connection to Kercher's death back in 2007. While Guede was convicted of murder and given a 16-year sentence, Knox and Sollecito both pleaded not guilty and served four years in an Italian prison before their convictions were overturned in 2011.

In January of this year, the Italian Court reconvicted Knox and Sollecito in a retrial that was reportedly focused on DNA evidence. At this trial, Knox was sentenced to 28 years in an Italian prison, while Sollecito was sentenced to 25 years.

Now that the reasoning for the reconvictions has been released, the verdict has officially been opened to appeals by both Knox and Sollecito. However, if the Supreme Court of Cassation confirms the convictions, Sollecito, who is still in Italy, will be brought to prison.

Know, who resides in Seattle, Wash., would then become the focus in what would likely be a long extradition fight between the U.S. and Italy.
