‘Community’ Season 6 CANCELED: NBC Axes Comedy After Five Years, Also Ends J.J. Abrams Drama Series ‘Revolution?’ [VIDEO]
NBC has officially announced which shows it has given the axe to, and one actually seems like a surprising cut.
The network has given the boot to comedy series Community, which starred Joel McHale as a washed-up lawyer attending a fictitious community college, Variety reported May 9. Of the shows the network chose to cancel, it was the longest-running one.
Other shows which received a permanent send-off from the network included the J.J. Abrams helmed drama Revolution, Believe, and freshman shows, Growing Up Fisher and Crisis.
The network did choose to renew both Hannibal and About a Boy.
Earlier in the week, NBC did announce pick-ups of several new dramas and comedies, including Marry Me, Allegiance, Odyssey, State of Affairs, Constantine and The Mysteries of Laura.
FOX, ABC and The CW have also made announcements about which shows they planned on axing, renewing or canceling. FOX cancelled four shows-Enlisted, Dads, Rake and Surviving Jack, and also passed on new comedy pilots, No Place Like Home, Fatrick and Dead Boss.
ABC's cancellations include The Assets, Back in the Game, Betrayal, Killer Women, Mind Games, Mixology, The Neighbors, Suburgatory, Super Fun Night and Trophy Wife. No Announcements have been made for what new pilots the network plans on picking up.
The CW announced it was cancelling The Carrie Diaries, Star-Crossed and Tomorrow People, while officially picking up The Flash, iZombie, Jane the Virgin and The Messengers.
CBS has yet to announce any official cancellations or pick-ups, though a large block of its shows are all slated to return.
