A new report on May 12 suggested that Brad Pitt is close to signing a deal to star in the secon season of True Detective.

Show Will Have a Feminist Tone this Time Around?

Mirror TV reported that Pitt seems to have agreed to take the part on.

Pitt was being championed for the part of male lead in the second season for quite a while now but there were a bunch of reckon-able female actors who were apparently up for consideration too.

New Actress In The Running For Lead Part In Detective Series? 

Enstars reported that Kate Mara and Ellen Page have also been added in the stars being considered for roles and now it seems like Emma Stone has gone and upped the competition by stating that she would be very keen on nabbing a part in the HBO mini-series second cycle. In an interview with Vogue, Stone was also clear about who she'd like for a partner, Kristen Wiig is her pick.

"That would be amazing. I would do True Detective with Kristen Wiig in a heartbeat," she told the publication when asked if she would be interested in working on it.

What We Know About The Plot And Casting So Far 

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Pizzolato also revealed that the second season will be set in Southern California. But what is more interesting is that the creator told The Wrap that the story might not be a murder mystery, although it will follow a similar plot of detective after an elusive criminal.

The first season of the show which was a critical success starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in the lead roles as a pair of detectives who return to an unsolved case about a ritualistic serial killer after around a decade.

The first season of the series was was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.
