NBC's America's Got Talent has always been known for finding some rare, strange, and in some cases downright dangerous talent. With no age or category restrictions, anything and everything could happen.

In Monday's interview with TODAY, AGT judge Howie Mandel sat down with Matt Lauer to discuss some of this year's acts, including one in particular that is bound to draw some attention.

"We have an 8-year-old knife thrower, who is throwing knives at his 6-year-old-sister," Mandel told Lauer of season 9.

While this act is bound to impress, it does bring to question the safety of the children involved. Yet, this is not the first time minors have attempted such dangerous feats on television since there is a staggered history of children with knives on television. On Britain's Got Talentjust this year, 11-year-old Edward Pinder performed as a knife thrower, using his own mother as a subject.

While the riskiest acts are sure to boost ratings and thrill audiences, it seems there is no limit even when children are involved. Mandel also told TODAY that on American's Got Talent, "Nothing is discouraged. There are no rules."

For a show without rules, ATG is sure to have one somewhere in contestant contracts to protect the show from liability in case anything goes wrong. Of course this won't stop people from competing and risking their lives on television, which is part of the show's appeal. It's aim is to prove itself dangerous, spectacular and a one-of-a-kind experience.
