This year's winner of the Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest are Joey "Jaws" Chestnut and Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas. Joey Jaws ate a whopping 68 hot dogs in ten minutes. Sonya, who only weighs around 100 pounds, broke her previous record of 41 by wolfing down on 45 hot dogs and buns earlier today.


Defending champion Sonya said: "My technique is, I dunk two hot dogs in the water cup, and then eat."


The annual Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest was streamed live via ESPN will be televised later on tape delay.


ESPN has been televising the traditional New York event since 2004.


New York's Mayor Bloomberg attended the city's traditional event.


Bloomberg also presided over the official "Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest" weigh-in at City Hall Park yesterday. He said of the event: "Let me be perfectly frank. I relish it."


The contest took place July 4 at Nathan's flagship restaurant in Coney Island, New York.

Last year, over 40,000 spectators attended the event and 1.949 million viewers watched it live on ESPN.
