Doctor Who will cap off season 8 with a two-part finale.

Peter Capaldi's Twelve Is Looking Dark & Dangerous In 'Doctor Who' New Teaser, Premiere Set For August

Penned by showrunner Steven Moffat, little was known about episodes 11 and 12 until a tweet hit the Internet from an account confirmed as that of director Rachel Talalay.

"Can't believe it myself," read the Tweet, according to Doctor Who TV. "Taking lame-o selfies in the tardis. it's finale. 2-parter. rest is top secret."

Although the tweet was quickly deleted, Talalay later confirmed her involvement during an interview with B---- Magazine.

"Every episode of Doctor Who is like a mini-feature and they're all completely different," Talalay told the site. "They're massive. I'm so excited to get to work with the show. When watch them, I just think, 'This is so creative, this is so out there.'"

While Talalay couldn't give away any specific details regarding the upcoming finale, the filmmaker did discuss her approach to episodes.

"I don't approach it in terms of, 'What am I bringing that's different?' I'm approaching it in terms of, 'How the hell do you do this?!'" Talalay explained. "It's so hard! It's so big and so hard and so ambitious. When you're working with a wonderful script, you just think, 'How to I tell this story beautifully and blow away the audience?'"

Doctor Who will return to BBC and BBC America in August.
