Austin Mahone is successful in his own right, but the 18-year-old still wants to learn from his elders. The Mmm Yeah singer got a chance to ask Pharrell Williams a question recently and took full advantage of the situation.

While on In:Demand in the UK, Mahone was told he could ask Williams one question that the Happy singer would answer. Mahone, who said he met the singer once while on a plane, decided to ask Williams about his writing process because Williams has "so many hit" songs.

"I do remember meeting him [Mahone] off the plane," Williams said. "Super nice kid, very talented. The answer to his question is that there is no secret," Williams said abut writing his amazing tracks. "I think if anything it's just about remaining curious about your craft. When you're curious, you'll always go searching for more things to do and more things to try. Blending different genres together and different things about different genres in music, which of course will expand your musical vocabulary and it gives you more to play with. I would say just remaining driven and curious."

Maybe Mahone and Williams can link up soon? Mahone just released his new EP The Secret and despite being a fan favorite, his record label reportedly wishes he could sell more albums. "The kid can close down any mall in America," Republic Records executive Avery Lipman said during a New Music Seminar this week, "but we are struggling to sell a meaningful amount of records."

Mahone will be on tour this summer and hopes to release a full-length album very soon.
