Kathy Bates Getting "Fitted" For New American Horror Story Character

Murphy spoke with TVLine at the Critics' Choice Television Awards Thursday, revealing who Chiklis' character would be closely associated with in American Horror Story: Freak Show.

Chiklis is set to play "a strong man who's married to Angela Bassett['s character]," he said. "He has scenes with Angela and Jessica Lange and [onscreen ex] Kathy Bates."

It had previously been revealed that Chiklis would be playing Kathy Bates's character's ex-husband while he would also be playing the father of Evan Peters' character.

"I love the part because it's really written to be quite vulnerable, which is something I think Michael does so well - the strong man who's vulnerable," Murphy continued. "I'm very excited to see [him] tussle with all those great ladies. And he's really up for it, really excited about it."

It is not known if Chiklis will be playing a "freak" in Lange's character's troupe of freaks.

Actors set to play "freaks" in the new season include Bates, Bassett, Peters, Frances Conroy and Sarah Paulson, who has revealed that she will be playing a two-headed character, named Bette and Dot. Bassett's character will have something to do with heights, based on her recent comments to E! Online.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres in October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date.
