Soccer player Hope Solo tested positive for a banned substance and received a public warning from the USADA. The goalkeeper tested positive for Canrenone, but will not be ruled out of the London Olympics.

The Anti-Doping Agency collected an out-of-competition urine sample from Solo on June 15. Canrenone is considered a specified substance, according to agency rules. The 30-year-old, who plays for the Seattle Sounders Women, has accepted the warning and issued the following statement:

"I took a medication prescribed by my personal doctor for pre-menstrual purposes that I did not know contained a diuretic," Solo said in a statement. According to ESPN, she said: "Once informed of this fact, I immediately cooperated with USADA and shared with them everything they needed to properly conclude that I made an honest mistake, and that the medication did not enhance my performance in any way."

She added: "As someone who believes in clean sport, I am glad to have worked with USADA to resolve this matter and I look forward to representing my country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London."

USADA Chief Executive Travis Tygart said in a statement: "As in all cases, we thoroughly investigate the circumstances and always do what is fair and right for clean athletes and the integrity of sport."

Solo was the starting goalkeeper for the United States at the 2008 Olympics and with the U.S. team when they reached the finals of last year's Women's World Cup. She has also helped the United States reach the semifinals in the 2007 World Cup in China.

Solo last made headlines when she was a semifinalist on the last season of the ABC hit show "Dancing with the Stars."
