Woman Watched NASCAR With Deceased Man For Over A Year
They say you don't know what you got till it's gone; but what somebody refused to let it go? That was what family members found out the hard way when they made the trek to check on Charles Zigler at his residence and found his dead corpse sitting upright in a chair.
After not hearing from Zigler for several months, the family had finally thought it would be a good idea to pay the man a visit.
Upon conducting a close physical examination, officials came to the conclusion that Zigler, who would've turned 67 or 68 if he were living, had passed on some 18 months ago around Christmas of 2010.
Before his passing and clearly well after, the man they called Charlie had been living with Linda Chase of Jackson, Michigan.
The situation gets more twisted as Zigler had been unwillingly living vicariously through his previous companion Chase, who kept his body clean and odorless.
Refusing to let the poor man go gracefully, she frequently spoke to the body and watched NASCAR with it as well.
To add insult to injury, she was also cashing in on the poor man's social security checks; over his dead body (literally).
"It's not that I'm heartless. It's just that after so many bad things happen to you, I don't know," explained Chase.
The rationale behind it you ask? Jackson had the following to say in regards to Zigler:
"I didn't want to be alone. He was the only guy who was ever nice to me."
We all seek that special someone who will complete and one must properly mourn the loss of a loved one through its natural stages. But the final stage is indeed acceptance; let the man rest in peace and if by small chance you aren't headed to the slammer; find yourself a living breathing companion who can give you feedback on the NASCAR.
