The Originals airs early during The CW primetime lineup, but there is still plenty of blood, guts and dismemberment to go around.

Actress Phoebe Tonkin Dishes On The Originals Romance

The series' second season begins this fall, and with writers promising a pretty "dark" season ahead, fans might just be wondering what kind of violence is in store. How far can the network push the envelop? How creative will the writers get?

Director Jeffrey Hunt recently boasted a 20-man stunt scene for the show via Twitter, indicating that The Originals won't be slowing down for season two. There is vengeance to be had. Scores to be settled.

The Originals Cast Talks Season 2

In an interview with The Paley Center For Media back in March (featured below), the cast and crew talked a little about violence on the show. It was noted that viewers have "seen heads ripped off, hearts ripped out," but producer Julie Plec noted that while they have a pretty wide net when it comes to dismemberment, sexuality on the show is a bit more regulated.

Actress Leah Pipes, who plays Cammie on the series, assured the audience that "thrusting" is apparently a big no when it comes to 8 p.m. television on a standard network. There had been an incident where she was directed to "thrust" during an intimate scene, but the network wouldn't air it.

"And you will never see the thrusting..." said an embarrassed Pipes, "I've scarred the writers for life."

"That's the line," laughed Julie Plec, indicating that blood and guts is still up for grabs.

The Originals returns to The CW for a second season on Monday, October 6th at 8.p.m.
