As pre-production for season 6 of The Good Wife has begun, there's been a lot of buzz about what lies ahead for the CBS legal-drama series. A new report dated July 11, revealed that Josh Charles, who formerly played Will Gardner on the show, will be coming back, albeit in a different role.

Florrick-Agos To Get Stronger & Bigger Than Lockhart-Gardner In Season 6 Of The Good Wife

TVLine reported that the actor will be returning in the role of a director for season 6. Charles has worn the director's cap episodes in past seasons of the show as well. In season 4 Charles directed, The Art of War, and in season 5 he took on The Next Month and Tying the Knot.

The other recent development relating to the show has been the addition of Taye Diggs (Private Practice) to the case. An E!Online report revealed a few details about Digg's character in the show. He will play Dean Levine-Wilkins, who has been described as a "meticulous" and "talented" equity partner at Lockhart/Gardner. Wilkins will actually movie with Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) to Florrick/Agos.

What We Know About The Next Chapter Of The Good Wife So Far

The highlight of the finale for season 5 was Eli Gould (Alan Cumming) proposing Alicia (Julianna Margulies) become a candidate for State's Attorney. The cliffhanger obviously had to do with the big decision Alicia will have to take now.

The finale, titled A Weird Year, aired on May 18.

Season 6 of The Good Wife will premiere on CBS at 9/8c on September 21.
