Women around the world were heartbroken to find out Ryan Gosling was about to become a dad with girlfriend Eva Mendes, but the latest reports seem to indicate that there's nothing for the actor's female fan base to worry about, as being a dad isn't likely to affect his movie career.

News broke July 11 that his Place Beyond the Pines co-star and girlfriend of three years, Eva Mendes, was seven months pregnant with his child, sparking upset from fans who wished he was having a child with ex-girlfriend Rachel McAdams, as well as worries that a baby would mean the heartthrob would be saying goodbye to his career.

The 33-year-old has expressed a desire to be a father in the past, and has even hinted that he would give up making movies when the day came for him to have kids.

"I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies," he said back in 2011. "When someone comes along, I don't think I'll be able to do both and I'm fine with that. I'll make movies until I make babies."

However, just on the heels of Gosling reportedly gearing up for fatherhood, it has been confirmed that he is joining the cast of the movie The Nice Guys. Variety reports he and Russell Crowe have both signed up for the Shane Black 1970s police drama, which focuses on a set of detectives investigating the apparent suicide of a female porn star whose career was declining.

Choosing to film a movie that would shoot after his baby is born may not be spelling good things for his rocky relationship with Mendes. The pair have weathered endless rumors of break-ups during their three-year romance, as they have rarely been seen in public together, and haven't been photographed with each other in over a year.

If Gosling is still going to be making movies while Mendes takes care of their son or daughter-effectively reversing what he previously said about becoming a parent-it could bring some hope to fans of his 2004 romantic drama the Notebook, who are still holding out for he and co-star McAdams to rekindle their one-time off-screen romance.

The two dated for two years from 2005-2007, and again briefly in 2008, and fans have clamored for the two to get back together ever since.
