The Simpsons is opening up its 26th season with a bang, or some other manner of death.

Which Simpsons Character Will Be Killed Off?

For a long time, there have been rumors and murmurings about a character dying on the show. Now, Entertainment Weekly has reported on Sunday about some key information on when to expect that event to happen, plus some other stuff.

Season 26 of The Simpsons will debut September 28 on FOX, and in that episode the character in question will die. Showrunner Al Jean has said that it will be an "emotional story," and also gave out some hints about who the character may be. First, the actor won an Emmy for their performance. Second, the character has appeared in more than two episodes. Chalk this up as a guess for it being Rabbi Krustofsky, Krusty the Clown's father voiced by Jackie Mason.

The Simpsons Planning Three Live Shows At The Hollywood Bowl

This is not the only big event involving The Simpsons this season. On November 9, a crossover episode between The Simpsons and Futurama will air. Futurama, which was created by Matt Groening just like The Simpsons, used to air on FOX, before recently ending its run on Comedy Central. This is a chance for one last hurrah for the cult classic sci-fi cartoon comedy. That's not all. Over in the world of Family Guy, The Simpsons will be appearing in a crossover episode. That episode will serve as Family Guy's season premiere.

The Simpsons has been on the air for a quarter of a century, but there is still plenty of big stuff going on in its world to keep fans surprised and excited.
