The cast members of Downton Abbey revealed some new details on what's going to happen to their characters in the fifth season, including the aftermath of Anna's sexual assault and a new Lady Mary.

Season 5 To Take On A Different Lifestyle?

On Wednesday, Associated Press posted a live interview with the actors who dished on how their roles will open up. Joanne Froggatt (Anna) mentioned that that her character will still be going through a difficult time and things won't be okay with her anytime soon.

"I wanted to sort of show that there's just a little spark that's gone in her for the time being, you know, that it's not going to be rebuilt very quickly because things like that aren't," Froggatt said, referring to Anna's shocking rape incident.

Former Character To Return For Season 5?

Michelle Dockery (Mary) revealed what the next season is like for her, which will have fans looking at a different kind of Lady Mary.

"Series five for me is very much like the new Mary," Dockery said. "Because once she's kind of through all of that grief and she's moving on, she really starts to embrace the social changes, embraces fashions."

Laura Carmichael (Edith) talked about the "secrets" that are going on especially with Michael Gregson being missing.

"The family don't really understand why she can't pull herself together and get over Gregson," Carmichael said, which is a reason why Edith is dealing with so much pain.

Downton Abbey Season 5 is expected to premiere on Sunday, January 4 on PBS.
