Joel (Sam Jaeger) and Julia's (Erika Christensen) marriage went downhill after she confessed to kissing Ed last season. Julia attempted to salvage her relationship, but Joel was hesitant and even confessed that their relationship wasn't working even before her little kiss.

With tears in his eyes, the father of their two children explained that he felt hurt that she was unhappy being a stay-at-home mom. He also revealed that he considered her kiss cheating even though it didn't go any further than that.

Parenthood fans will get to see the Braverman family for 13 final episodes in the fall, at the same time -- Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.

"One of the things I wanted to do with the season was to find one larger story that influences everybody on the show," showrunner Jason Katims said at the Television Critics Association's fall previews, TVGuide.com reported.
