Jon Hamm Talks Don Draper's 'Poor' Decisions On 'Mad Men'

While series creator Matthew Weiner is currently working on his first feature film, Are You Here, which is set to star Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis, the writer and director took some time to look back at how Mad Men has influenced television as a whole.

"The movie business is so internationally oriented," explained Weiner on CBS This Morning on Wednesday (featured below), "That I think that to have a culture specific, language specific adult drama…you have to sort of go on TV."

Weiner wrote the pilot for Mad Men 14 years ago and next spring the series will conclude its final season with the last seven episodes. Parting with the show has been hard on the cast and Weiner admitted the strangeness of ending.

"It's the end of the show. It's been an incredible experience," he declared.

"It was incredible to you know sort of peel things off," he added, "First the writers stopped working then the actors and the crew stopped working…now I'm in post production with that group and the ironic thing is eventually I will be back alone with my computer, which is sort of where I started."

Mad Men returns to AMC with the last seven episodes of the series in early 2015.
