He wormed his way into fans' hearts with classic lines praising Glen Coco and demanding to get his pink shirt back, but now Mean Girls star Daniel Franzese has landed a new lucrative gig-as a major love interest on the upcoming season of HBO's Looking.

'Looking' To Add More Diverse Characters In Season 2?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Franzese has signed on for the 10-episode second season of the series, in a multi-episode arc. His role is described as Eddie, who is a new love interest who works in the San Francisco nonprofit community.

He will join the ensemble cast, which includes Jonathon Groff, Murray Bartlett and Frankie Alvarez, as well as new series regulars Lauren Weedman, Russell Tovey and Raul Castillo-and thanks to a photo posted on Franzese's Instagram page, he appears to already be getting along fabulously with his new cast-unlike his less-than-popular self-described "too gay to function" character in his hit 2004 movie, who would have never been invited to sit with The Plastics.

'A Lot' Happening On Season 2 Of 'Looking?'

"#TBT Grabbing grub with my #LookingHBO homies after our table read. Great people. Can't wait!" he captioned a photo of himself with Alvarez, Groff, Castillo, Tovey and Bartlett on August 28.

Franzese is also just one of the new characters set to be featured on the hit gay dramedy. Back in July, news broke that three new diverse characters-Malik, an African-American staffer at the mayor's office, Sammie, a trans man who lives at the shelter where Augustin gets a job, and Brady, Richie's new redheaded boyfriend-- will be featured on the show as well, after critics lashed out at the show for not showing the true makeup of the San Francisco gay community.

A commentary piece in the Huffington Post last year, just before the show initially premiered, was one of the more specific pieces which lashed out at the program.

"SF is where gays go to get interracial, and gay men of color run the Castro," article author Justin Huang wrote at the time. "I don't think there's another place where I have felt more accepted and celebrated for being a gay man of color. SF is a nirvana for gay men of color, and now HBO is painting it white with a rehashed Queer as Folk...Being gay transcends race. It should unite people of different colors, not exclude them."

Looking season 2 is set to premiere next year.
