Believe it or not, Iggy Azalea turned down the opportunity to work with Ariana Grande at an earlier time in both of their respective careers.

Why Jennifer Lopez Adding Iggy Azalea To 'Booty' Makes Sense

Azalea admits to Grammy.com that she did not work on Grande's debut record Yours Truly because, "I thought she was much younger than what she is." Azalea originally thought the singer was "amazing" but was scared of working with her because of her age. The fact that Grande was starring in a Disney show helped turn Azalea off, thinking her own music was too risqué for the young singer.

Azalea moved to the United States at the ripe age of 16 after hearing artists like Tupac and Missy Elliott. She explained in the interview, "It's really scary to try to have massive expectations for yourself when you're a female rapper because it's a really hard lane to be in. It's difficult, but I love that."

Ariana Grande To Top Billboard Charts Twice In One Year

Azalea did work with Grande for Problem, however. She stated, "When I realized she was so close to my age, I was like - wait you're an adult!" The single featuring the two stars has maintained a spot on the Hot 100 Billboard Chart for 17 weeks, being featured at no. 13 this past week. Grande has been compared to Mariah Carey before, but the singer has her own shell of music that has been captivating audiences.

In recent news, Grande's sophomore album, My Everything, is expected to debut at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This is done by industry forecasts and Billboard, and would be the second time Grande has topped the chart in one year.
