Porn star Belle Knox has given a speech on something that does not just include the X-rated industry.

While some might know Knox as the adult film star, some may have forgotten that she is also a college student at Duke University, which is one of the essential reasons why she chose to do porn. She needed money to pay for her tuition, which led her to give a discussion at UNC's Student Union on the high costs of going to college.

"I felt that being screwed on camera was the best way to avoid being screwed by the higher education system," Knox said in her lecture, as published by Dailytarheel.com on Tuesday.

The actress also talked about how society can view that going to college will lead to success although it's becoming more difficult.

"The American dream is becoming more and more unattainable," she said.

Knox, whose real name is Miriam Weeks, also received some support from a student who revealed that she understood Knox's decision to turn to pornography.

"I don't think I would ever do that- I know I wouldn't- but college prices are so high, especially Duke prices, so I could definitely see how someone would be faced with that decision," sophomore Hannah Beason said.

Makeda Thomas, a student at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, also expressed his support on Knox's speech.

"I thought it was very informative," Thomas said. "It was good to see from the eyes of the youth our age that she's going ahead and taking power into her own hands to better her education."
