Tragedy has struck the National Football League today as Tennessee Titans O.J. Murdock was found dead in his car this morning in what appeared to be a suicide, according to Tampa Bay Times.  The 25 year-old allegedly self-inflicted the gunshot wounds found on his body.

The player's vehicle had been parked in front of Middleton High School, which is where the Titans' Wide Receiver had attended.

Attempts to save his life were unsuccessfully made as he was pronounced dead at Tampa General Hospital in Florida.

Murdock had not shown up to Tennessee's training camp this past weekend because of what the organization called a personal issue.

"We are shocked and saddened to hear of O.J. Murdock's death this morning," the Titans said in a statement today.

"In his brief time here, a number of our players, coaches and staff had grown close to O.J., and this is a difficult time for them.  He spent the last year battling back from an Achilles injury as he prepared for this year's training camp.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends as they try to cope with this tragedy."

Earning his way to the NFL scouting combine, Murdock was inked to a deal with the Titans in the summer of 2011 after previously going undrafted.  However, he ended up injuring his right Achilles tendon very early in training camp and was out for the season.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the family as they cope with his passing.
