It doesn't seem as though everyone is on board with Catherine Zeta-Jones's latest big screen plans. The Hollywood actress is set to play Griselda Blanco, the first woman to be a Colombian drug lord in The Godmother. Many critics are calling it a miscast, saying that Zeta-Jones looks nothing like the fearless Blanco, who was a huge figure in the Miami drugs wars of the 1970s and 1980s.

Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones Split: What Caused The Separation?

According to Deadline, the film will be directed by Eva Sorhaug while Frank Baldwin will be writing the script. The film is scheduled to start shooting sometime next year.

Many critics, though, are saying that Zeta-Jones might not be the right fit for the role, and even doubting her ability to transform to Blanco on the big screen.

Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta-Jones Relocating To New Jersey?

Miami New Times writes, "Catherine Zeta-Jones is the furthest thing from what Griselda Blanco actually looked like unless they're planning on caking Zeta-Jones with an abundance of make-up and a weight change to accompany that. It's not unlikely that Zeta-Jones could change herself drastically for the role, as other women have to portray conventionally unattractive women -- Charlize Theron as Aileen Wuornos for instance -- but it's doubtful it'll actually happen."

Actress Yolonda Ross even expressed her dismay on Twitter by writing, "I'm sorry but what part of this casting makes any kind of sense? Come on Hollywood. Are There NO LATIN actresses???"

So far, Zeta-Jones has not made any comments about the role.
