Carol Will Be Affected By The Past When 'The Walking Dead' Returns

First of all, another season! The Walking Dead was just renewed for Season 6 by the network before its Sunday premiere.

"We could not be more excited for October 12th as we share new episodes of The Walking Dead with fans around the globe," said AMC President Charlie Collier in a statement (via Entertainment Weekly). "In advance of Sunday's season five premiere, AMC proudly confirms a sixth season order of this extraordinary series. Thank you to Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, the terrific executive producers, and the entire team who brings this compelling world and these rich characters to life. There's plenty more Dead ahead thanks to their impressive, collective effort."

Gareth Might Be 'Concerned With Surviving' On 'The Walking Dead'

But, what are some things fans need to know before Season 5?

Cleveland.com reports that there will be a new character named Father Gabriel Stokes, played by The Wire's Seth Gilliam. The site reports that in the comic books, Stokes is a preacher who encounters the group. He is a "conflicted man who has been surviving on his own during the zombie apocalypse. It eventually comes out that Stokes hid in his church during the outbreak, locking his congregation outside in order to save himself."

Also, fans will find out what happened to Beth (Emily Kinney). All we know is that she's currently being held at a hospital.

The Walking Dead airs at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
