The climate at Sony with Spider-Man has changed. Bad reviews and box office numbers have made the studio re-think their plan moving forward and it could mean the end of the hero at the company and of Andrew Garfield in the role. But what happens next?

What We Know So Far About 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3'

When the news came out that Sony and Marvel had been talking about some sort of agreement that would allow Spider-Man to come over to the Disney-owned studio to appear in a few of their movies, it was a rejoice for fans who had watched Marvel find success in their B-characters, while the biggest name they had was doing nothing for another brand.

The report went longer saying that Sony may look at the success of Sinister Six as a way to see if audiences still wanted to see this universe they were making and if Spider-Man were still relevant. While the latter is true, maybe a move to Marvel is the right course for the hero.

It couldn't hurt the company as the hero has shown before that he is one of the best selling one-man shows outside of maybe Wolverine and Iron Man. And on that fact, Iron Man isn't even as big as Spidey; it is just fun to go and see Robert Downey Jr. talk his way through stuff and beat the crap out of people.

Spider-Man moving to Marvel full-time may be the best case scenario for his fans and people wanting to see a quality film. It isn't a knock on the work of director Marc Webb or Garfield, but the property belongs at home and could be taken care of at Marvel.
