While James Bond continues to be a staple franchise across the pond, it seems like some in the British entertainment royalty don't see it the same as the fans that follow it. This comedic icon, and former Bond costar, had some choice words on the series in a recent interview.

What We Know So Far About 'Bond 24'

Speaking with Den of Geek on Friday, John Cleese talked about his criticisms of the new Bond films and why he didn't watch the new movie, Skyfall, when it came out.

"Two things went wrong: the plots became so impossibly obscure that even professional writers couldn't figure out what they were about," he said. "And the action scenes, which are supposed to make the adrenaline run, go on far too long."

Cleese's argument is that the producers dropped the English humor because of how popular the films got in other countries who may not get the same jokes as those accustomed to the classic films would.

"They discovered these movies were popular in places such as the Philippines and South Korea, and so they dropped the humor because no one there is going to understand jokes about the English class system," he said.

"One of the great things I've learnt in the last few years is just how much money spoils everything."

Cleese is no stranger to the franchise as the comedy icon played Q, most recently, in Die Another Day (the role is currently played by Ben Whishaw). But clearly he has some serious criticisms of the new movies.

The latest movie, called Bond 24 for now, is slated to open in theaters on November 6, 2015.
