It seems like Marvel is adding one of their staple characters to one of their upcoming movies, which confirms a previously rumored tie-in between the movie and members of S.H.I.E.L.D.

One Pivotal 'Ant-Man' Actor Seen On Set With A Gunshot Wound, Will His Character Die In The Movie?

Comic Book Movie reported on Sunday that Hayley Atwell, who plays Peggy Carter, is joining the cast of Ant-Man. The news comes after a local casting agency announced that they were looking for a stand-in for the actress.

The news makes sense after a rumor surfaced recently that Peggy Carter would be joined by younger versions of Howard Stark, Alexander Pierce, and Armin Zola for a scene in which the members of S.H.I.E.L.D. meet with Michael Douglas' Hank Pym. The same casting agency was looking for a Douglas stand-in earlier during production.

Is An 'Ant-Man' Character Going To Be In 'Captain America 3?'

This affirms the fact that there will be some tie-in between Ant-Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. that probably angered Edgar Wright and made him leave. Marvel is trying to bring Ant-Man into the rest of the universe and with the film coming at an awkward time between Avengers 2 and their newly released slate of Phase 3 films, it will probably try to find its place.

Atwell has become a fan favorite since her first appearance in Captain America: The First Avenger and is starring in her own series, Agent Carter, for Marvel and ABC next year.

The actress is also rumored to be in Avengers 2 next year so it seems like Peggy Carter is finding her way in every Marvel project in 2015.
