Marvel revealed massive news in the recent weeks as the studio announced that Robert Downey Jr. would be joining the cast of the new Captain America movie as Iron Man, which would start the Civil War plot within the Marvel universe. But what else do we need to know about this movie and what it means for the future?

Outside of Downey Jr., the film also added Chadwick Boseman to the cast in what should be the first appearance the actor makes as the Black Panther. Marvel head Kevin Feige called Black Panther a very important character at the event and seems to hint that within the Civil War plot, the character could take the place of Peter Parker or Spider-Man.

While rumors swirled that Spider-Man could be joining the MCU for this movie, it seems like that move may have to wait a little longer but his role in the Civil War is crucial as he plays the middle man between Captain America and Iron Man and their feud.

What Is Marvel's Civil War & Why Are Iron Man & Captain America Fighting?

But how influential will this movie be? It is crucial for the rest of the universe moving forward.

The feud that Iron Man and Captain America have will most likely begin in Avengers: Age of Ultron as moments in the trailers and clips have shown that tension is already high between the two heroes. But it will most likely culminate in Civil War with the two now going to two sides and fighting each other.

This will influence the MCU from now on as it pits two of the biggest heroes within this universe against each other and could split heroes. Looking at the slate of films that Marvel has for Phase 3, it looks like some of these new heroes such as Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel could be influenced by this plot.

There will be a lot of moving parts in Captain America 3 and it will be interesting to see where the film takes the MCU moving forward. But for now, it will cause massive tension within the Avengers and will likely run until the third Avengers movie when they have to give up the hate to fight Thanos.
