With Team Jamaica already conquering the 100-meter sprint gold medals by way of Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Veronica Campbell-Brown hopes to take home another gold for her country in the women's 200-meter finals.

If she wins, Campbell-Brown, 30, will also become the first woman to ever win three gold medals for 200-meter sprints in the Olympics, according to Reuters.

She won gold in the 200-meter sprint at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics and won the 200-meter title at the 2011 World Championships.

The competition takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 4 p.m. with three American competitors also running for the gold - Sanya Richards-Ross, Allyson Felix and Carmelita Jeter.

The current world record time of 21.34 was set by American Florence Griffith Joyner in the 1998 Olympic Games.

Campbell-Brown, who took home the bronze at this year's 100-meter sprint, will have stiff competition on Wednesday for both the Americans and fellow Jamaican Fraser-Pryce, the champion of the 100-meter sprint at the 2008 Olympics and the 2009 World Championships.

"I'll remain confident and try and put it together. My intention is to stay focused and then run my heart out," Campbell-Brown said.
