Country singer Keith Urban is accustomed to taking his whole family out on tour, but when he attended the BMI Country Awards last week it was strictly a grown-up affair.

Accompanied by his wife and actress Nicole Kidman, Urban recently talked a little about his work and how country music has evolved (featured below).

"It's a really exhilarating time," the Somewhere In My Car singer told BMI TV. "I'm mean it's pushing out into areas it's never been before… This town has changed so much in the last twenty years. It's extraordinary."

Nicole Kidman Dishes On Intimate Life With Keith Urban 

Kidman stood supportively by her husband during the interview, leaning her arm around his shoulder and smiling at his passion for music.

The actress is incredibly supportive of her husband, though she remains mindful when listening to his new songs for the first time.

"All I do is I dance to it and sing along…" she insisted, "But that's it."

Kidman continued that she always has a response to Urban's work, but she doesn't "know" how to always put it into words. She doesn't consider herself qualified to critique the music fully, and so she keeps her feedback pretty general.

"I think I just respond emotionally," she admitted. "But I would never say 'yeah, that's a really good song. You should record it.' I don't enough about it."

Urban has been touring over the last few months, but his zeal for performing hasn't wavered.
"It's a beautiful thing to be able to paint in images and pictures and melodies and rhythms and grooves," he noted, "It's a beautiful thing."

Urban released his latest music video for Somewhere In My Car on Sept. 25.
