Zac Efron is set to star in the new A24 film The Iron Claw

Zac Efron has certainly come a long way from the top player on the East High Wildcats basketball team. The High School Musical star is set to star in the new A24 film The Iron Claw. According to an exclusive on Deadline, Efron will be staring in the movie based on the true and compelling story of the Erichs family. The rise and fall of the Erichs dynasty of wrestlers is an epic story and has been written for the A24 screen by Sean Durkin.

This is not the only film that has announced Efron in top billing recently. It was announced earlier this week that Efron would be starring in a new Netflix comedy alongside Nicole Kidman and Joey King. While this rom-com is currently untitled, the impressive cast sets the screen for success. The film, according to an article on Deadline, is set to follow, "a surprising romance which kicks off comic consequences for a young woman, her mother and her movie star boss as they face the complications of love, sex, and identity. "

Both of these movies are coming off the heels of Efron's performance in the film adaptation of Stephen King's thriller Firestarter. From his days in musical Disney movies, the actor is now everywhere doing everything: and he is doing it WELL. Could Zac Efron be America's next leading man?
