When Gabby Douglas revealed that her celebrity crush was "Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder, she got more than she could ask for.

Somerhalder, 33 and several of his cast members from the hit CW show taped a video congratulating Douglas on her Olympic success. Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley and Michael Trevino joined Somerhalder to appear on camera and verbally express how proud they are of the 16-year-old.

"We'd like to congratulate you and the U.S. women's team on your gold medal," said Wesley.

Dobrev, 23, was reported to have been responsible for coordinating the special 35-second clip.

"I use to be a gymnast and I competed internationally, so it's my favorite time," said the 23-year-old.

"When I found out that Gabby liked the show, I was incredibly excited and really happy to make the video," she added. "And now we follow each other on Twitter, so we've been direct messaging. The 16-year-old in me wishes I was up there with them. So I'm just so happy for her success. And she's so cute. She has the most amazing smile."

The show's executive producer Julie Plec sent the Virginia native her note of congratulations via Twitter:

"Love watching the #TVDFamily rally for @gabrielledoug"
