Brad Paisley spilled the beans that Carrie Underwood is expecting a baby boy during their gig hosting the 48th Annual CMA Awards, but on Tuesday the country singer opened up about how she and her husband first got the news.

Apparently Underwood and her husband Mike Fisher, who plays in the NHL for the Nashville Predators, had a gut feeling that their baby was going to be a boy.

During an interview with ABC on Tuesday, Underwood admitted that they didn't want to find out the gender during the sonogram.

"We got to see all the pictures and everything," noted the 31-year-old. "It was really cool to see that."

Nonetheless, Underwood and Fisher decided to have the gender written down and placed in an envelope. Then, to celebrate, they took that envelope out to dinner with them so they could find out the news during their own special date night.

"We both knew," explained Underwood of finding out the baby is a boy. "So, that was just like confirming our suspicions. We didn't really speak of it before, 'cause we were both just like, 'Whatever. It's all good.' But we knew it was a boy."

As for Paisley's slip at the CMAs, Underwood had known he wouldn't be able to keep a secret. "Brad's got loose lips," she added. "He's a blabber mouth. So, I was like, 'I'm not gonna tell you until we're ready for the rest of the world to know, 'cause I know you'll tell people.'"

Underwood is due to give birth this spring, though she and her husband have chosen to withhold the specific due date.

When it comes to the release date for the Something In The Water singer's latest album, however, the country artist is more than willing to share it.
