"We are doing okay. We are working to kind of build out strength and acclimating to the new normal," Zak Williams told Entertainment Tonight at the event. "A large part of what we're doing through this grieving process is giving and spending time focusing on others."

He also said his family was overwhelmed by fans' love and support after the comedian's death.

"The outpouring was remarkable. People shared their loving words, supportive words, art, and all sorts of amazing tributes to my father," he said.

Inside the event, Zak spoke about his father's close friendship with the late Christopher Reeve, who died in 2004.

"They had a tremendous love for one another," he said. "An amazing thing about their relationship was their incredible drive to take the time to love, to help and to appreciate others, even while they found themselves in great pain."

He added: "They always found time to give their all to those in need and bringing light and healing where there's darkness, pain, or suffering is absolutely vital."

Robin, whose career spanned almost 40 years, committed suicide on Aug. 11. He was 63.
