For the very first time since her sudden departure from the "Today Show" at the end of June, Ann Curry appeared alongside her former co-host Matt Lauer on Thursday. While NBC has tried its best to downplay the obvious demotion by coining her an "anchor-at-large" for the show, the knife cutting tension between the two was apparent during their brief interaction.

During the awkward reunion, Matt Lauer calmly welcomed back the ousted co-host with a "nice to see you." However, Curry clearly wasn't reciprocating the same warm feelings, as she unthrillingly replied "Good morning, Matt."

Almost instantly Curry then proceeded to hastily transition into her segment of Olympics photographer Adam Pretty's work.

The coverage on the photographer, who is currently shooting his 5th Summer Games on behalf of Getty, was actually quite impressive. During the piece, Curry queried Pretty about his long hours and the obstacles he faced to find quiet moments amid the London Olympics hoopla.

Lauer's second interaction during the segment with Curry was quite similar to the first, according to the LA Times.

"You're pretty good with the camera. Did you pick up anything?" Lauer asked from London's Olympic Park on a temporary set.

"No," Curry replied.

"Well, I didn't take any pictures, but I learned some lessons from him," she then elaborated.

Curry was previously removed from "Today" as a co-host after NBC saw its 16 year winning streak over ABC and "Good Morning America" come to an abrupt end.

Although the 55-year-old took the brunt of the blame, the program still continues to struggle with Savannah Guthrie as her replacement.

Fortunately for "Today," they have indeed benefitted from their Olympic coverage; racking up more than 30 million viewers on most nights.
