A judge has agreed to delay the trial of Aaron Hernandez in the 2012 slaying of two Boston men after his attorney has filed documents stating the ex-football player's defense team is busy preparing for his other trail, a 2013 killing.

In the 2013 case, Hernandez is being charged with murder for the fatal shootings of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Futado, two gentlemen he allegedly had an altercation with at a nightclub. The former New England Patriots player is being charged for the murder of a semi professional football player Odin Lloyd.

After Hernandez's attorney's successfully argued their case, Suffolk Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Locke did agree to postpone the trial but he said he will not decide on a later date until he knows how long the 2013 trial will last.

According to ESPN, Hernandez's lawyers are said to be reviewing more than 500,000 worth of evidence in the Odin Lloyd case and will not have time to effectively prepare for his double murder case.

"If [prosecutors] really call all those people, we're going to be in Bristol for two or three months," Charles Rankin, one of Hernandez's lawyers, said in court. "That would make it impossible for us to be ready by May 28."

Hernandez is being held without bail and he was not present in court due to the fact that his attorney's waived his right to be there.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in both of his cases.
