It looks like there's going to be a dramatic love story taking place between Brandon and Callie on The Fosters since whatever relationship they have might come with some baggage.

Actress Says There Will Be 'A Lot Of Drama' On 'The Fosters'

On Saturday, TV Line posted an interview with Maia Mitchell (Callie) who mentioned that in the upcoming Christmas special, there will be "more of an understanding of [Callie's] relationship with [foster friend] Daphne and Brandon."

As for the romance between Brandon and Callie, the episode will pick up after their kiss in the summer finale and then flash back to what took place between the first and second season. Things may not be easy for the two lovers, but even if something happens, "they're always going to be important to each other," Mitchell said. "Whether they're dating, whether that's a romantic connection or just a mutual respect, they're always going to have that."

For anyone who's rooting for these two, there may not be complete hope just yet; it turns out that Wyatt might come back into Callie's love life, which could lower Brandon's chances of winning Callie's heart.

"Wyatt's really good for Callie, and she knows that," Mitchell revealed. "He's a really positive male figure in her life. He's someone she can trust, and she hasn't really had that before."

Some other juicy information was mentioned about the other characters since viewers will discover "something [about] every character that you didn't know, that will impact how you experience the new season," co-creator Peter Paige said.

The Fosters Christmas special airs on Monday, December 8 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
