Actor Christian Bale is putting to bed the rumors about him being approached to play Batman again for 2016's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Despite rumors that he was originally approached before Ben Affleck eventually took the part, he said that this was not true, while also admitting that he wasn't approached about playing James Bond either.

"No. I've never heard of that," Bale told Esquire about the James Bond situation. "Equally untrue about them coming to me for Batman, before Ben Affleck...I think it's the right decision. People were talking about this obscene amount of money they were saying was thrown at me. No. I didn't have a single conversation with anybody about ever playing the role again."

Bale probably won't ever be returning to the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne after playing him in 2005's Batman Begins, 2008's The Dark Knight and 2012's The Dark Knight Rises.

"I think, probably with that, it's never," he said. "Because I can't help but feel it would just be a spoof on it. You know what I mean?"

Despite The Dark Knight especially having a huge impact on the style and tone of comic book/superhero movies, Bale admitted that he hasn't seen any other blockbusters of the sort.

"I confess, I've never seen another comic book film. But I understand they... set a different tone."

The tone continued with 2013's Man of Steel and it will likely continue into Batman v Superman in 2016, and potentially beyond.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on March 25, 2016.
