Though a huge campaign to keep Red Band Society on the air has been underway on social media, the efforts may not be so necessary.

Find Out How You Can Help Save 'Red Band Society'

Fox halted production on the low-rated freshman drama series after 13 episodes and has at least temporarily pulled it from the schedule after airing 10 episodes, but has not announced whether or not the show would be officially cancelled or not-meaning there is a slim chance that the show would return once again.

According to JBG News, the final decision for cancellation won't come until May, meaning the show does have a slim chance at a return, as other big shows are already scheduled to bow by the end of the 2014-2015 season-leaving room in the schedule for shows like Red Band if titles premiering in the spring aren't successful and the network chooses not to pick up other shows being offered for 2015-2016.

Could a Character Death Help Bring 'Red Band Society' Back?

While shows being offered in 2015-2016 aren't yet known, FOX will have some spaces available in its lineup. The network had previously announced that the upcoming 6th season of Glee would be its last, leaving a hole in the network's lineup for a similar series (Red Band also deals with struggling teens, though the setting is in a hospital instead of a high school glee club).

And, according to TV By The Numbers, other new series, Gracepoint and Mulaney were already canceled. Though several shows are expected to be renewed for new seasons (the website rates Bob's Burgers, New Girl and Bones are more likely to be renewed and The Mindy Project, Sleepy Hollow, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Gotham, Family Guy, and The Simpsons as certain to be renewed), the network does have gaps to fill.

In the meantime, fans of Red Band Society who wish to try and increase the show's chances of a renewal can tweet using #SaveRedBandSociety, or sign a petition on change.org.
