Wendy Williams is a phenomenal talk show host and radio personality. Her show, which was renewed through 2017 earlier this year, has proven to be a ratings' smash but even her own fans criticized her for her role in the Aaliyah biopic.

Wendy Williams Ensures Fans They Will "Be Impressed" With Aaliyah Biopic

After weeks of promotions and sneak peaks, Williams' ensured her audience that they'd "be impressed with [Alexandra Shipp]", the new actress who played the late star. But, on the night of the premiere, the overwhelming response to the movie was highly negative. So much so, that fans and people who knew Aaliyah like Timbaland, made memes to make fun of the attempt to bring Aaliyah's story to life without realistic casting or any of her music.

Still, despite the backlash she received from her stab at going behind the scenes of Lifetime's Aaliyah biopic, Williams revealed in a new interview that she still wants to give it another try. "I would love to be able to produce more made-for-TV movies," she said.

She continued, "There's no discounting the big screen. But me and my husband [Kevin Hunter, her manager and business partner] have developed some great relationships with various networks..."

It comes as no surprise to many fans of the 50-year-old host because after the weekend of social media backlash, she still saw the results of the Aaliyah movie as a "win-win" idea. During her hot topics following the premiere of the film on Nov. 17, she simply said, "I see my Aaliyah movie broke the Internet this weekend, everybody's got an opinion. Whether you loved or you hated it, you watched."

Williams boasted, "It was the second highest-rated movie on all of cable, this year so far."
