The season 5 finale of USA's hit series Covert Affairs airs Thursday and viewers may be in for a huge twist when it comes to the safety of Belenko.

TVGuide reported on Wednesday that Annie will be faced with the dilemma of killing or not killing Belenko. Joan does want Annie to bring Belenko back alice, but the Russian Vego Force is covering them in Buenos Airs.

It's reported that McQuaid thinks they should cut their losses to ensure a safe escape for him and Annie, but she will be torn in the episode.

"Why does Russia want you dead now?" she asks Belenko in the sneak peek.

"I know everything about how the FSB works, their infrastructure," he says. "You're going to keep me alive for the very same reasons the Russians want to kill me." 

Executive producer and co-creator Chris Ord told TVGuide, that the finale will be a "very emotional" hour.

"In terms of emotion, we feel the whole season has been leading up to this episode. If you go back to the premiere, the Annie she was then, then comes McQuaid ... we felt we owed the audience to take this home in this episode, and answer questions fans might have but raising new ones," he said.

Covert Affairs airs Thursdays at 10/9c on USA Network.
